Unlock the power of AI and help drive human intelligence at the AtlanTec AI Challenge 2026, powered by Liberty IT alongside partners University of Galway School of Computer Science, AIM Centre & Data2Sustain.

This year as part of itag’s AtlanTec Festival ‘Human Intelligence Driving Transformative Innovation’ we will be hosting an AI hackathon. The two-day event will bring innovators, tech enthusiasts, and industry leaders from across the West together to develop cutting-edge AI solutions that tackle real-world challenges.  

This is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with likeminded individuals whether you’re an expert or just beginning your AI journey. All skill levels are welcome. Register as a team of 4 or register and request to join our Team Forming slack channel.

AI Challenge Overview

Date: Thursday, 26th March 2026

Time: 17:30 – 19:30

Location: Liberty IT, Alcantara Building, Bonham Quay 

Enjoy pizza and snacks while meeting fellow participants. Get briefed on the challenges ahead, including AI fundamentals, ethics, and cybersecurity insights. It’s the perfect opportunity to network and prepare for the main event.

Date: Friday, 17th April 2026

Time: 9:30 am – 5:00 pm

Location: University of Galway, Computer Science Building

Collaborate with your team to finalise your AI solutions using provided resources and mentorship. Present your solutions to industry judges for a chance to win prizes and gain recognition.

  • Connect with AI enthusiasts, developers, students, and professionals.
  • Solve real-world problems and see your ideas come to life.
  • Gain access to workshops on AI fundamentals, ethics, and cybersecurity, with guidance from experienced mentors in academia and industry.
  • Expand your professional network within the AI & tech community.
  • Winners receive the opportunity to present their project at the AtlanTec Festival Conference on May 14th 2026.

Three separate prizes will be awarded based on the following categories:

  • Tech excellence – Clever Card €2,000
  • Most Innovative – Clever Card €1,000
  • Upskilling Excellence award – Clever Card €600
